About Us

About Women in Finance

Women in Finance (WiFi) was established in Fall 2018. Since its creation, it has grown and become one of 33 Student Professional Organizations (SPOs) at the Fox School of Business.

WiFi members range from freshman to senior female students, with a variety of majors, including finance, accounting, management information systems, risk management, and financial planning.

WiFi intends to encourage professional development of our members and enhance opportunities for women in financial services majors. It seeks to expose young women to various career paths by holding student-run workshops and hosting female industry leaders to speak about their experiences in all business industries. Through attending weekly meetings, networking with other members and students, and developing necessary real-world techniques and/or skills, members can become confident and prepared for future careers.

Meetings

Meetings are held every Friday from 12pm - 12:50pm in Alter Hall Room 606. Some meetings may be virtual but all information will be communicated to members.

Visit the Events page for a calendar schedule of events.

The first few minutes of each meeting are reserved for a current events review of the week. Members should be prepared with a topic of discussion, article, or occurrence to participate. This is part of WiFi's initiative to help members become aware of and have a solid understanding of the (business) world. The meeting continues either into a speaker presentation or a professional development workshop/activity.

Committees

Women in Finance has two committees: Community Engagement and Fundraising. They are led by an Executive Board member and consist of two members each.

Marketing Committee:

Members of this committee will help keep our social media platforms updated regularly throughout the semester. WiFi intends to increase its social media presence to grow relationships with our speakers and students and continue to build our network.

Fundraising Committee:

Members of this committee will help organize and execute fundraising events. The committee chair will lead a small team by meeting regularly to brainstorm fundraising ideas, plan the logistics of events, and encourage members to participate.

Committee positions are held for the whole school year. If you're interested in being more involved with Women in Finance, apply to become a committee member for the Fall 2022 - Spring 2023 school year this upcoming Fall.
